Reaction of thiamine anhydride (I) with CH3COSH gave acetylthioethyl SB1 (II), which was converted into acetylthioethylthiamine (IV). Mercaptoethylthiamine (V), a Sanalogue of thiamine, was obtained from IV. A munber of reactions of IV and V were carried out to give a variety of S-analogues of thiamine derivatives. Thiol type S-acyl derivatives, disulfides, perhydrothieno [2, 3-d] thiazole derivatives, and hexahydrothienothiachromine derivatives were synthesized.
