Formic Acid Reduction. X. Reductive Fission of Bridged Carbon-Carbon Bond of Bisdimedone Derivatives

Abstract

It has now been found that triethylammonium formate (TEAF), given by 5HCOOH·2N (C₂H₅) ₃ causes the reductive fission of the bridged carbon bonds of 2, 2'-alkylidene and 2, 2'-arylidene-bisdimedones by heating. The reaction gave a number of productsby the secondary reactions succeeding to the reductive fission. Routes of these reactionsare also described.
