In order to obtain an useful derivative for radioimmunoassay, The Tyr residue was attached at the N-terminus of somatostatin. N1-Tyr-somatostatin prepared by the conventional method was found active as synthetic somatostatin. It was confirmed that des-[Ala1-Gly2]-somatostatin is an active compound.
