Studies on Monoterpene Glucosides and Related Natural Products. XXX. The Fate of the C-8 Proton of 7-Deoxyloganic Acid in the Biosynthesis of Secoiridoid Glucosides

Administration experiments of (7, 8-³H₂)-7-deoxyloganic acid (5) into Lonicera morrowii, Cornus officinalis and Gentiana thunbergii plants revealed that the C-8 proton of (7, 8-³H₂)-5 was retained in loganin (2), secologanin (3) and morroniside (1), respectively.
