Abstract

The total structure of 5β-bufol sulfate, which is the major bile salt of the toad, Bufo vulgaris formosus, was elucidated as the 26-sulfate ester of 5β-cholestane-3α, 7α, 12α, 25, 26-pentol on the basis of 13C-NMR. This method can thus be used for determination of the location of the sulfate ester group in bile alcohol sulfates.
