A leukocytosis promotion-inhibiting factor (LPIF) was isolated and purified from crude bovine bile. The purified LPIF was homogeneous on 15% polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. It inhibits the effects of leukocytosis-promoting substance in rabbits. The molecular weight of LPIF was estimated to be 1.2×104, and the isoelectric point was at pH 8.2. The active component dissociated into two subcomponents with molecular weights of 9000 and 3000 on sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) polyacrylamide electrophoresis.
