The synthesis of 2-methyl-pyrido [3, 2-e] pyrrolo [1, 2-a] pyrazine is described. The starting materials, 2-amino-6-methyl-3-nitropyridine and 2-amino-6-methyl-3-hydroxypyridine, were converted into pyrrolyl derivatives by using 2, 5-dimethoxytetrahydrofuran in glacial acetic acid. Subsequent elaboration of the latter afforded the title compounds. The proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) spectra of the products were also studied.
