Biosynthetic incorporation of [1-13C]- and [1, 2-13C2] acetates into silvaticamide (1) was investigated in Aspergillus silvaticus. The incorporation experiments unambiguously demonstrate that silvaticamide is biosynthesized through the acetate-malonate pathway.
