Abstract
3, 3'-Dihydroxy-α, β-diethyldiphenylethane (I__-), the isomer of hexestrol ((II)___-), showed strong coronary vasodilator effect (ED50 : 1.0 μg/heart) on the isolated quinea-pig heart. The action of I__- was stronger than those of (II)___-(ED50 : 9.0 μg/heart) and 3, 3'-dihydroxy-α, β-diethylstilbene (ED50 : 4.3 μg/heart), the starting material of I__-. Compound I__- also had a carditonic effect and a relaxing action on the contraction of guinea-pig mesenteric artery due to KCl and norepinephirne at a low concentration of 10-6-10-5M. It should be emphasized that compound I__-, in addition to the lack of hormonal side effect, had a stronger effect on guinea-pig coronary and mesenteric artery.
