Steroidal Glycosides from the Fresh Stem of Stephanotis lutchuensis var. japonica (Asclepiadaceae). Chemical Structures of Stephanosides A-J

Abstract

The structures of ten related oxypregnane-oligoglycosides stephanosides A (1), B (2), C (3), D (4), E (5), F(6), G (7), H (8), I (9), and J (10) from the fresh stem of Stephanotis lutchuensis var. japonica (Asclepiadaceae)were elucidated on the basis of a detailed study of their high-field ¹H- and ¹³C-NMR spectra. All the sugars are β (1→4)-linked and the aglycones are 12, 20 bis-O-acyl or 12-O-acyl derivatives of sarcostin.
