2(1H)-Pyrazinone ring-containing natural products, flavocol, deoxymuta-aspergillic acid and finally optically active deoxyaspergillic acid, were easily synthesized by a newly developed procedure for preparation of 2(1H)-pyrazinone derivatives from dipeptidyl aldehyde hydrochlorides.
