Constituents of the Capsules of Euscaphis japonica (THUNB.) KANTIZ

Abstract

Two compounds related to amino acid amides, named euscamines A and B, have been isolated from the capsule of Euscaphis japonica (THUNB.) KANTIZ together with three known triterpenoic acids. Euscamines A and B were established as N-(3'-hydroxymethyl-2', 5'-dihydro-2'-furyl)-succinamic acid and N⁵(3'-hydroxymethyl-2', 5'-dihydro-2'-furyl)-N⁵-methyl-glutamine methyl ester, respectively.
