Abstract
β-Mercaptoketones, β-mercapto-β-(m-tolyl)-and β-mercapto-β-(p-chlorophenyl)-propiophenone, β-mercapto-β-phenyl-p-chloropropiophenone, β-mercapto-β-phenyl-p-methoxypropiophenone, and β-mercapto-β-(1-naphthyl)propiophenone, were prepared by the addition of hydrogen sulfide to the corresponding α-benzylideneacetophenones and α-1-naphthylideneacetophenone. These mercaptoketones formed chelate compounds with copper and the ratio of ligand to copper was found to be 1 : 1.
