Abstract
Acylation of pyridoxine (I) with fatty acid chloride in pyridine and chloroform at room temperature gave pyridoxine diacylates (II), which were verified to be the 3, 4-diacylates. The diacylates prepared and the triacylates obtained as a by-product are listed in Table I. The long-chain fatty acid derivatives (II) are stable to heat and soluble in fat. Pyridoxine 3, 4-dipalmitate (II b) showed a complete pyridoxine activity in mice by oral or dietary administration.
