A new 11-oxygenated sapogenin, nogiragenin, was isolated from Metanarthecium luteo-viride MAXIM. and the structure 5β, 25D-spirostane-3β, 11α-diol was assigned to it by its synthesis from metagenin via 2β, 3β-epoxide.
