Abstract
In this study, we analyzed local residents' personal experiences and memories of cultural properties by time scale, and clarified how local people relate to cultural properties. The study then sought to understand the multifaceted value of cultural properties from the perspective of how local residents relate to cultural properties. In addition, the effectiveness of the method of collecting and analyzing the experiences and memories of local residents related to places at different time scales was discussed. The differences in the experiences and memories of cultural properties and other "places" at various time scales allowed us to clarify the characteristics of "places. The combination of "places" with different characteristics at different time scales and the relationship between them enabled us to decipher the character of the region. For these reasons, this method was found to be effective.
