Sera from normal rabbits showed strong cytotoxicity against cells of a mouse pituitary tumor cell line. This cytotoxicity was completely inhibited by heat treatment (56°C for 30 min) of rabbit serum (RS), but it was not restored by addition of only guinea pig serum (GS) into heated rabbit serum (HRS). For restration of HRS cytotoxicity, both GS and newborn calf serum (NCS) were needed. It is possible that the RS cytotoxicity was caused by natural antibody of RS against some antigen of the mouse pituitary tumor cell line.
