Abstract
Generally, bone has good self-repair ability, however, critical large amounts of bone defects after fracture or resection of malignant bone tumor, which are challenging for orthopaedic surgeons. Also the healing potential of the injured ligament, cartilage, spinal disc are extremely poor. Tissue engineering and regenerative medicine have attracted much attention as new therapeutic technologies that induce tissue regeneration by making use of scaffolds, growth factors, cells, or their combination in orthopaedic field. Drug delivery system is one of the most important methods for regenerative medicine. Gelatin hydrogel, which control the release of containing growth factors, is very attractive biomaterials for tissue regeneration via enhanced angiogenesis and recruitment of stem cells.
