The periapical projection is usually used in intra-oral dental radiography of full-mouth series which is classified as either 10 or 14 periapical films' radiography according to the number of the films used in Japan. Evaluation of error frequencies has been performed mostly based on subjective criteria and thus made the intercomparison difficult. Present study was aimed to evaluate objectively error frequencies in full-mouth series of 10 periapical films by bisecting angle technique using Wuehrmann's criteria or the modified method by us. This may be useful for evaluating the efficacy of 10 periapical films method for the full-mouth radiography in both clinical dental education and a routine intra-oral radiography. It was found difficult to apply the Wuerhmann's criteria directly to the 10 films' radiography. The result by the modified criteria indicated that mean error frequencies per patient was 4.0 films and the missing was most frequently found in both crowns of the upper incisors and apices of the lower canines. It was concluded that 14 films' radiography instead of 10 films' radiography can be recommended to minimize the error frequencies.
