In this study, we investigated the factors affecting mainly the willingness to pay (WTP) additional cost for mobility service when using autonomous vehicles in order to provide basic knowledge for considering policies at the time of full-scale introduction of mobility as a service. We used data from 2500 samples collected from all parts of Japan using an Internet-based questionnaire. From the survey results, we found the following: (1) additional cost may be acceptable to a wide range of people; (2) WTP differences that correlate with personal attributes should be taken into consideration when designing pricing policies that involve additional cost; and (3) when designing pricing policies that accommodate additional cost, integrating improved utility and functionality of transportation measures must be considered at the same time.
