The purpose of the paper is to investigate the existing pattern of land use composition and population density at the selected bus stops identified within the furthest walking distance from 19 proposed Bayan Lepas Light Rail Transit (BLLRT) stations and their influence on the number of private vehicles. PLS-SEM path analysis revealed a significant negative relationship of population density towards the number of private vehicles which depicts that the compactness of an area will tend to reduce the number of private vehicles at a bus stop. An insignificant relationship of built-area towards the number of private vehicles signifies that the acquisition of built area does not influence the number of private vehicles at a bus stop. The findings revealed the specific indicator for population density and the built area within transit stations that could help in the placemaking of bus stops and indirectly able to reduce the number of private vehicles.
