Integration of Transportation Demand and Population Coverage to Design Bus Networks

This study proposes a modification of two models, distance constrained p-median problem (DCPMP) and maximum covering the shortest path (MCSP). Modification of both models is for determining the network for the bus line, which achieves a reduction in operation cost and enhances existing service in the traffic zone. Objective function calculation depends on the OD data. The findings illustrate the flexibility and usefulness of the developed modeling approach for addressing a wide range of planning issues.
