Efficient public transportation is essential for urban mobility, particularly for government employees. This study investigates the factors that enhance public transit connectivity for government employees commuting between Battaramulla, Maradana, and Colombo Fort in Sri Lanka. Key issues affecting transport efficiency were identified, including operational inefficiencies, poor multimodal integration, inadequate service coordination, and insufficient infrastructure. Using a quantitative approach with descriptive and factor analyses, the study revealed five essential components: High-Capacity & Express Transport, Multimodal Integration & Accessibility, Operational Efficiency & Reliability, Service Coordination & Enforcement, and Infrastructure & Passenger Experience. These factors accounted for 56% of the total variance, with Infrastructure & Passenger Experience contributing 14%. The study recommends integrated ticketing, coordinated bus-rail schedules, improved pedestrian facilities, and policy-driven solutions such as public-private partnerships and enhanced governance. These measures aim to develop a more efficient, sustainable, and reliable transit system, benefiting commuters and supporting urban mobility.
