3C17 側鎖に4-ドデシルオキシベンジルオキシ基を持つベンジルアルコール誘導体の液晶相転移

We synthesized 4-(4'-dodecyloxybenzyloxy)benzylalcohol (a), 3,5-bis[4-(dodecyloxy)benzyloxy]-benzylalcohol (b), 3,4-bis[4-(dodecyloxy)benzyloxy]benzylalcohol (c) and 3,4,5-tris[4-(dodecyloxy)-benzyloxy]benzylalcohol (d). Their mesogenicity was studied by DSC and X-ray powder diffraction measurements, and polarizing microscope observations. In compound a and b, no mesomorphic phase was observed. In compound c and d, an enantiotropic discotic phase was observed.
