We have carried out an experimental study of the atmosphere effect in the vibration of a fieely suspended liquid crystal film. The vibration spectra of the films were considerably shifted by the change of atmosphere such as ethanol, toluene and kerosene vapors. The value and direcfion of this frequency shift depend on the kind of gases. The pressure dependence of the vibrafion of a freeiy suspended film has also been studied. With decreasing pressure, the oscillation spectra of the film shifted to higher frequency senstively in the range of 50Pa〜100kPa.
