We prepared non-symmetric dimeric liquid crystals possessing cyanobiphenyl and phenylpyrimidine groups and investigated structure-property relations. Position of the pyrimidine ring affected stability of the SmA phase. Binary mixtures have been prepared between the dimeric liquid crystal and the corrresponding monomeric compound, and the transition behavior has been investigated. We will discuss molecular organization in the SmA phase of the non-symmetric dimeric system.
