抄録

New troponoid liquid crystals with a 5-(phenylethynyl)tropolone core were prepared. 5-(Phenylethynyl)tropolones were synthesized by cross-coupling of 5-iodotropolone and phenylacetylene derivatives with palladium catalysis. The 2-benzoyl ester derivatives had enantiotropic nematic, smectic A, C and F phases.
