We have synthesized a polyacrylate having mesogenic core moiety of 2-phenylnaphthalene, which exhibits smectic mesophase at elevated temperature and Sm glassy phase at room temperature, and characterized carrier transport properties by time-of-flight experiment. The polyacrylate exhibits SmA phase between 110℃ and 165℃ and glassy phase at room temperature. The transient photocurrent was We could observe dispersive hole transport in SmA phase, whose mobility was 1×10^<-4> cm^2/Vs at 140℃, but it was too dispersive to determine the mobility in the glassy phase at room temperature. With a small amount of 2-phenylnaphtalenen derivative of 16.7wt %, the hole transport was substantially improved up to 1×10^<-3> cm^2/Vs in glassy phase at room temperature. The present results indicate that basically the polymeric Sm molecular alignment promotes charge carrier transport just like in small molecular Sm liquid crystals.
