Liquid crystal is strongly influenced by a substrate interface. In this study, we tried control of the liquid crystal by using ferroelectric P(VDF/TrFE) as alignment layers. We put ferroelectric liquid crystal between rubbed P (VDF/TrFE) layers to construct sample cells. We detected transmitted light through the sample cell during the polarization reversal of the ferroelectric polymer. The transmitted light intensities for different polarization states of the polymer were also measured. We will report how the polarization of the alignment layer affect the properties of the liquid crystal.
