We proposed an LCD driving mode which has a potential to improve some weak point of LCD. We named this mode 'IT' (In-plane switching Twisted nematic) mode. The main characteristics of the IT mode are of its wide viewing angle and its wide cell gap margin. We experimentally investigated the electro-optical properties of IT mode LCD. In this presentation, we will report the response time and the contrast ratio.
