Fan-shaped molecules containing ammonium salt moieties have been designed and synthesized to develop bicontinuous cubic liquid crystals exhibiting high ionic conductivities. The effects of the molecular structures and the induced liquid-crystalline phases on ionic conductivities have been examined.
