The dielectric biaxiality (∂ε) and the dielectric anisotropy (Δε) were measured for a binary system with FLC mixtures in order to investigate the relationship between ∂ε(Δε) and τ-Vmin property. It was found that the dielectric biaxiality (∂ε) exhibited non-linear behavior against the component ratio of binary liquid crystal mixtures while the dielectric anisotropy(Δε) linearly changed. The τ-Vmin measurement were carried out using the ferroelectric liquid crystal(FLC) mixtures with various dielectric biaxiality and dielectric anisotropy. The voltage minimum was found to have a good correlation with the dielectric biaxiality.
