We have observed orientational distribution condition of C=O of carboxyl group in the SmC* and SmCA* phases of antiferroelectric liquid crystals by polarized fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Then we found that in SmCA* C=O group rotation is hindered and C=O group lies on the tilt plane of molecular long axis. Therefore we can regard new model with occurrence of SmCA* instead of pairing model.
