抄録

We have investigated the migration of SiO₂ particles by applying AC electric field. The trace of their movement reflected the smectic layer alignment. In the isotropic and N^* phases, which have no layer structure, the particles moved on a circle. On the contrary, in the smectic A and C^* phases, they moved along the smectic layer.
