Abstract

The effective bandwidth of optical pre-emphasis in a hybrid modulation laser diode (HMLD) was examined in terms of the CR time constant. The modulation response of the intra-cavity loss modulation (ICLM) section was optically pre-emphasized through a photon-photon resonance (PPR) effect in the HMLD. It was confirmed that the PPR effect is effective up to 500 GHz and can contribute to expanding the modulation bandwidth of the HMLD.
