Study of a vector network analyzer using a wideband seven-port correlator and a simplified arithmetic method

Abstract

In this letter, we show measurement results of a prototype low-cost vector network analyzer (VNA) using a seven-port correlator (SPC) in the 4 to 18 GHz band. We developed most components ourselves for the VNA. In addition, we study an improved arithmetic method for measuring magnitude without modifying the hardware architecture. This method can improve the accuracy of the transmission coefficients for two-port devices.
