Study on the compatibility of coating material and modified silicone sealants

Abstract

The research on the paint contamination of the non-bleed type modified silicone sealants was done. The research was focused mainly on the correlation between outdoor exposure and quickening method using a heat oven. The result showed the heat quickening method which is used to test polyurethane sealants was also effective to the modified silicone sealants. The heat quickening method could cause migration of plasticizers into the paint. This migration softened the paint surface. Therefore the surface picked up the dirt such as dust or, particles from vehicle emission.
