Abstract
As suitable plasticizer for vinyl floor covering, Bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate or DOP is widely used. Recently, however, the plasticizer has been subject to restriction on use, due to concern on human health. As alternative plasticizer, DINCH and DEHT have been commercialized. In this study, VOC emission of vinyl floor covering based on DEHT was investigated. Approximately 13 times higher emission was observed of DEHT vinyl sheet in comparison with DOP vinyl sheet. In order to find the reason, dispersion of plasticizer in vinyl sheets were investigated by using FT-IR microspectroscopy.
