Abstract

In quasi-resisitive and fire-resisitive buildings, fire rated window or door assemblies must be installed in the openings of the exterior walls liable to catch fire. Since openings in the exterior wall are weak points in a fire, even openings are required to have the same level of integrity as exterior walls. as exterior walls in foreing countries. However, in Japan, the current situation is that only 20-minute fire protection systems have been developed. In this study, to realizie a 120-minute fire protection system is the main purpose. The specifications of a specific fire protection system with long-time flame integrity and the issues to be solved were clarified. This paper focused on a series of fire tests conducted on windows of exterior wall openings, the main constituent materials of which are stainless steel frames and heat-resistant crystallized glass, which are disadvantageous in terms of fireproofing compared to ordinary steel frames.
