Abstract
The interaction between farmland land-use change and biodiversity is a critical issue affecting the sustainability of agricultural ecosystems. This paper systematically evaluates the multifaceted impacts of land-use practices, such as agricultural expansion and monocropping, on biodiversity, particularly highlighting habitat fragmentation and the decline in plant and animal diversity. The findings indicate that biodiversity is essential for maintaining ecosystem services and significantly enhances agricultural productivity and resilience to climate change. Based on these insights, the paper proposes several cutting-edge research directions: (1) exploring biodiversity restoration strategies in farmland through regenerative agriculture; (2) using climate change scenario models to assess the impacts of land-use changes on biodiversity dynamics under extreme weather conditions; (3) optimizing farmland landscape design to enhance functional biodiversity; (4) leveraging digital agriculture and remote sensing technologies for large-scale biodiversity monitoring and modeling; and (5) investigating the effects of land-use change on soil microbial community structure and its ecological functions. By summarizing the current status, analyzing challenges, and proposing research frontiers, this paper aims to provide practical insights for managing farmland ecosystems and conserving biodiversity, contributing to the sustainable development of agriculture.
