The administeration of Tb-1, 30 50mg daily in the beginning of treatment, 200-300mg afterwards and 5-50mg in total to 12 leprous patients inculding lepra nodosa 4, 1.maculosa 6 and 1. nervosa 2 gave us the following results.
1) Intoxication of the drug was slight anorexia and liver damage, but they did not demand discontinuance of the administration.
2) The effectiveness was, slight improved in 6 cases, remarkably improved in 2 cases, somewhat effective in 3 cases and indistinct in 3 cases.
3) Resorption of leprous lesion and transformation of bacilli were recognized clearly from the pathohistological view.
4) Larger dose of this drug can be recommended in these leprous cases than in tuberculosis.
5) If, these beneficial effects continue, this drug should be regarded as one of the most promising as the sulfones for the treatment of leprosy.
