Lens effect of acoustic wave in two-dimensional (2D) phononic crystal is studied by numerical simulation based on the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. We calculate the phonon band structure of 2D phononic crystals, consisting of metal/ceramic cylinders placed periodically in water. Lens effect is observed for far-field wave in the phononic crystals with two-layered and graded-index structure. We compare the focal intensity and the energy transmission efficiency in these numerical experiments, and show that a novel energy-transmission device can be designed using phononic crystals.
