For utilization in power control and information systems, we have developed human-computer interfaces using speech recognition technologies. For the purpose of more effective console operation, we propose a method of speech-input interface using voice navigation commands. In a large scale power control center, the system console has a large number of menu screens and the layer of console menu is very complicated. Therefore, the proposed method is very effective for console operation because the interface enables rapid, hands-free, eyes-free operation. For implementation of the speech-input interface, we have developed a large vocabulary speech recognition module and a system integration method between the speech-input interface and power control center's host computer systems. In this paper, we describe initial implementation and evaluation of the proposed speech-input interface.
