Sensorless Pole Detection Method for Wound-field Synchronous Motor

Abstract

A sensorless pole detection method for wound-field synchronous machines at zero speed is described. By injecting an alternating voltage into the stator winding, the pole position of a rotor is detected from a current in the field winding. The characteristics of this system are clarified, and verified by experiments.
