Investigation of the magnetic flux density and force characteristics is essential to advance the design and development of new motors. This paper proposes a mathematical solution for predicting the flux density distributions in a tubular magnetic geared linear motor capable of generating a high thrust force. The proposed method can calculate both radial and axial components of flux densities while consuming less computing time than the finite element method. The force transmission capacity of the magnetic gear and the thrust of the motor are calculated based on the predicted flux density. In comparing the calculation, finite element analysis, and experimental results the consistency in the results validates the proposed method.
