In order to establish the clinical diagnosic value as well as the prognostic significance of the serum enzymatic activity, the author investigated the fluctuations of SCOT, SLDH and SALD levels in several diseases and in experimental dogs.
1) SGOT, SLDH and SALD values were evaluated as that they change parallel with the severity of hepatitis or myocardial infarction.
2) In cardiac insufficiency including valvular diseases, slight insufficiency with only hepatic congestion showed increase of SLDH only, severe insufficiency with edema in lower extremities and or cardiac asthma presented significant increase of SLDH as well as SALD, and the latter indicates secondary liver change resulted by circulatory disturbances.
3) The comparative and serial estimation of these serum enzymatic activity in these diseases revealed that the maxitum values of the activity occur in a definit order according to the process of recovery: at first SCOT, next comes SLDH, and SALD is the last one.
This finding is apparently helpful for the diagnosis especially of myocardial infarction, These characteristic changes of enzymatic activity were confirmed in experimental dogs with artificial myocardial infarction.
4) In contrast with those in cardiac and/or hepatic diseases serum enzymatic activity in gastritis, diabetes mellitus and hypertention revealed within normal limits.
