Abstract
The purpose of this study was to obtain vivid and precise images of intrarenal venous branching of the patients, especially with hypertension, using renal arterial baloon-obstructing retrograde renal venography without any vasoconstrictive agent. In order to obtain distinct intrarenal venograms without increasing blood pressure, retrograde renal venography was performed immediately after renal arterial obstruction with the baloon catheter. By this method, 13 kidneys in 10 patients were studied, 9 cases with hypertension and others without. The intararenal branches up to the interlobar veins were clearly demonstrated in all of these cases without any effects to the blood pressure. This method is more useful for estimating the extent of intrarenal lesions and for detecting abnormal renal blood flow than the conventional pharmaco-venography and the renal venography with IADSA, especially in patients with hypertension.
