Abstract
[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to clarify the current status and issues of physical therapy intervention in critical care centers in Japan through a systematic review. [Participants and Methods] We extracted articles from 4 different electronic databases and hand searches on physical therapy intervention performed in patients admitted to critical care centers. [Results] Seven of the included articles were analytical epidemiological studies. The outcome measures and results were similar to those reported overseas for physical therapy intervention in intensive care units. [Conclusion] In the future, it is necessary to increase the number of reports of physical therapy intervention in critical care centers and to demonstrate their effectiveness through high-quality studies.
