Abstract
There is a widely recognized criticism that the scientific approach to consciousness or the soul tends to fall into the category error and become reductionism, for consciousness and the soul are each an invisible, immeasurable construct. In this article we introduce a case approaching the truth in consciousness studies through an interdisciplinary research group for spirituality; we use both the empirical scientific method and knowledge from direct experiences. This methodology makes it possible to bring to awareness the meta levels of consciousness, or the spiritual level. A holistic or integral approach does not mean to accept everything or simply to gather ideas from different fields. The attitude towards interdisciplinary study needs to include a willingness to experience the other's specialty as our own without denying our own status. The study group can serve as an example to embody spirituality.
