This paper describes the development of 42 inch PALC (Plasma Addressed Liquid Crystal) prototype display. Sony, Philips, and Sharp are developing PALC display with wide-viewing angle which is using ASM (Axially Symmetric aligned Microcell mode) technology. The prototype delivers 400 cd/m2 of brightness, a contrast ratio of 100 : 1 in daylight.
